The Farmhouse
The House
The original farmhouse has been progressively extended to create a substantial individual property which has been decorated and furnished to a high standard in the local style. There is plenty of room for large groups to relax.
Downstairs there is a kitchen with direct access to the dining room, a utility room, a sitting room, a library/music room, a large conservatory, a double bedroom, a family bathroom with a shower cubicle and an oval bath, a separate toilet and a storage room.
Upstairs are 2 further double bedrooms, a twin bedded room, a games room, a T.V. lounge, a bathroom with an over-shower and a separate shower room and toilet.
The house is fully central heated making it comfortable for visits in colder periods and the first floor can be accessed by two separate staircases.
The property is located in a very small and peaceful hamlet in the commune of Culey Le Patry 7km south of Thury Harcourt at the gateway to the beautiful 'Suisse Normande'.
The Kitchen
The kitchen is fitted with a wide range of modern appliances including an oven with 4 ring hob, dishwasher, refrigerator, microwave and toaster.
Numerous cooking and food preparation accessories are provided including crockery, cutlery and glasses for 12 people.
The dining room is accessed from a connecting archway making it convenient for family meal times.
The focal points of the dining room are a beautiful solid oak table which can seat up to 8 people and the antique oak dresser.
From the dining room there is access, via connecting doors, to the large conservatory where meals can also be taken.
The conservatory
The conservatory has excellent views over the back garden and the surrounding forest and is well equipped with 4 cane chairs and a coffee table at one end and a dining table with 8 chairs at the other end.
This is a superb place to relax in the afternoon and evening when it gets the sunshine and on warmer nights many guests dine in here or on the outside decked veranda accessed by a sliding glass door.
Alternative access to the utility room can be gained from a door at one end of the conservatory where the external rear floodlighting can be turned on.
The Sitting Room
The spacious sitting room has 3 comfortable sofas grouped round a log burning fireplace and is a very warm and intimate place to sit and relax, especially on cooler evenings.
The utility room can be accessed from the sitting room and an open staircase leads up to the T.V. lounge.
An outside door leads to the front garden patio.
The Music Room
This room has a small library of books and a selection of tourist and information brochures of the area for visitors to read, along with a sound system for playing CD's and tapes.
The main feature of this room is the original cattle troughs which have been incorporated into the renovation and with the beautifully crafted open staircase and little cubby holes in the stonework a unique atmosphere is created.
A two-seater sofa and chairs with spot reading lights make this a haven for relaxing reading or listening to your favourite music.
Bedroom No.1
This double bedroom is situated in a wing of the ground floor accessed from the Music room and is furnished with a double sleigh bed and matching wardrobe, draw unit and bedside tables, along with a wicker chair.
There is direct access to the front garden and patio from this room and lovely views of the forest. All bedrooms are equipped with bedside lamps and electrical points for hairdryers etc. with UK adaptors. This wing of the house has its own bathroom, toilet and storage room.
Bedroom No.2
A good size double bedroom with built-in wardrobe and antique "armoire" and chest
Traditionally decorated, this room has a warm and comfy feel to it
It also has a lovely view over the front garden and gets the early morning sunshine.
Bedroom No.3
This bedroom boasts two very comfortable sleigh beds and is very spacious.
A built-in wardrobe and a drawer unit give plenty of storage room for clothes. In one corner there is a convenient dressing table with a mirror and chair.
An outside door gives access to the front patio via a stone staircase and there are spectacular views to the forest from here.
Bedroom No.4
This is a very comfortable double bedroom with views over the rear garden and forest.
Decorated in the traditional French style this room has a lot of character
A large double wardrobe with with a full length mirror along with a separate drawer unit and chair provide plenty of storage space and convenience.
The Bathrooms
The family bathroom in the ground floor wing has a lovely oval bath with shower attachment and non slip steps.
This bathroom also has a separate corner shower cubicle which is to a high specification and includes thermostatic temperature control and a comfort seat.
A sink and vanity unit with a shaver fitting, a storage cupboard, radiator and a towel dryer, go towards making this an excellent family bathroom.
There is a separate toilet next to this bathroom.
Sink facilities are also available in the utility room.
The bathroom on the 1st. floor has a bath with shower over, a wash basin and a towel warmer.
Also on this floor, next to this bathroom, is is a separate shower room with a shower cubicle, hand basin, towel dryer and another toilet.
With 3 separate bath and shower rooms, all furnished to a similar standard, the farmhouse is very well equipped for larger parties.
The Games Room
The main feature of the Games room is a full size pool table with all the ancillary equipment.
Play Station 1 is also set up in here and a varied selection of games for all age groups are stored in the cupboards.
Two sofa beds in this room can be used to provide additional sleeping capacity if required.
The TV Lounge
There are 3 very comfortable sofas in this room and plenty of space for your whole group to relax and watch either Sky TV or a DVD.
The decor and antique furniture add character to a room which also has wonderful views over the front, rear and back of the farmhouse
The Utility Room
The utility room can be accessed from either the sitting room or the conservatory In here we have a freezer, washing machine and a tumble dryer along with a good selection of household equipment including an iron, ironing board and airer
There is also a sink unit in here and plenty of room for washing and drying
